Mr. Dwight Wendell Corbett age 79, of Edgewater, FL., passed away peacefully at Daytona Beach Health and Rehabilitation Center with family by his side on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.  Dwight was known for his warmth, generosity and dedication to his family. He is survived by two of his loving children Darrell Corbett, Eric Corbett, and predeceased by his eldest son Howard Wendell Corbett. His 4 grandchildren Christina Smith, Michael Corbett, Kaley Corbett, Patricia Corbett. His 5 Great grandchildren. His 2 brothers Roger Corbett, Paul Corbett, and numerous nieces and nephews.   He was predeceased by his parents, Wendell Brooks Corbett and Barbara Corbett.   Dwight was born December 27, 1944, in Troy New York. He came to Florida when he was 1 year old. He retired from Lynx Transportation where he was a supervisor of buses. He was a member of the Orange County Sportsmans association and went on the manage the club. He was also a member of the Florida Wildlife Federation where he enjoyed spending his spare time visiting public schools with different wildlife to introduce the children to nature.   Dwight was the rock and heart to his family. He was a hardworking and determined man who always put his family first. His absence leaves an unfillable space in their lives and his memory will forever be cherished.

Dwight was born in Troy New York. At age 1 he moved with his family to Orlando Florida. There he would spend much of his childhood and attend school. At age 19 he was married to Mary Dee Hare and together they had three children Howard, Darrell, and Eric. They purchased a home in Tangelo Park in the town of Orlando where they would spend the next twelve years. Dwight worked for a chemical plant called Atlantic Chemicals and climbed the ranks to become Plant Manager. A position he would remain until the owner retired and closed the business. Following the closure of Atlantic Chemicals, Dwight landed a job as the manager of Orange County Sportsman’s Association which was a live on property job. Dwight moved his family to the property on Lake Sheen in the town of Windemere Florida where they would spend the next three years. During that time Dwight also became more interested in woodworking and would go on the start a dock and boathouse construction company called Masterpiece Docks. Following his departure from the Sportsmen’s Association Dwight began working as a bus driver for Lynx Transportation. Dwight would again progress up through the ranks and become a supervisor of buses, responsible for the supervision of many buses assigned to different sections of Orlando Florida. Dwight would go on to retire from that position after 25 years of service.
